Our Curation Team

Our Curation Team is a passionate group of five dedicated humans on a mission to find twelve bold voices with ideas that spark real change. Over the course of five months, we dive deep—hosting info sessions, reviewing applications, connecting with dozens of prospective speakers, and holding live auditions. It’s a rigorous, heart-led process designed to uncover the voices that will truly move our audience and ignite a shift in thinking.

Alan Warburton

LICENSEE & CURATOR

As the founder of TEDxSurrey in 2018, I needed to build a strong team for the many important responsibilities. I chose to be the Curator because it allows me to have the wonderfully creative experience of working with a team to find the best speakers, with the best ideas, each year. We start the process with a blank slate and we finish each year with an amazing team of speakers.

It’s a joy to work with an exceptional team of bright, capable, and insightful people dedicated to a selection process that is fair and equitable at every stage.

CURATION TEAM COORDINATOR

In the summer of 2018, I received a phone call from Curator Alan Warburton asking if I would like to join the Curation Team for what would eventually become TEDxSurrey. Several years later, I have loved every minute of my time on the team. It allows me to interact with individuals who are wildly passionate about their ideas; their passion and enthusiasm are infectious. I feel a sense of purpose and accomplishment in answering the speaker’s questions and helping the rest of the team sift through the numerous applications we receive each year.

I’m a ‘no-nonsense’ dynamo born to catapult heart-centred entrepreneurs and thought leaders to build impactful brands, businesses, and lives. My engagement with TEDx deepened after delivering two TEDx Talks, now viewed over 3.9 million times. Drawn by the vibrant community of TEDxSurrey and the potential to create massive positive change, I joined the Curation Team four years ago. Being part of this family means nurturing bright minds and always seeking transformative ideas worth sharing. It’s here, among amazing talents, that I find joy in helping to bring groundbreaking insights to the stage and beyond.

As a curious adventurer, I have a passion for people and ideas which has been a guiding light in my life. I was fortunate to be a TEDxSurrey speaker in 2019. This experience inspired me to be of greater service and I was invited to join the Curation Team in 2022. I am grateful for the creative and versatile team that continues to uplift and is a beacon of light that shines in all directions. I love working with the Curation Team as we collaborate, uplift, and encourage ideas that enrich the community and global family at large.

Remya Nair believes in the quiet power of community to change lives. After attending TEDxSurrey in 2023, she left inspired—not just by the ideas on stage, but by the people behind the scenes who made it possible. That moment led her to join the curation team, driven to help amplify voices that matter. As the founder of Empower Community Services Society, Remya creates spaces where newcomers, youth, and families feel seen, supported, and empowered. With a professional background in technology, she brings structure to vision—bridging systems and human stories to build meaningful, lasting impact.
